House Ways & Means Committee adopts amendment and finds H.567 favorable as amended

The House Ways & Means Committee approved an amendment limiting the total amount to be diverted to two specified funds to $300,000 and then voted H.567 favorable as amended by a unanimous roll call of 11–0–0.

Members debated only briefly on details of staffing authority tied to the bill. One member asked who would authorize payment for three positions referenced in the language — two full-time positions to be paid from an unclaimed property special fund and one full-time position with costs split across three retirement systems — and the committee clarified that the authority lies with the entity specified in the bill language.

Representative Kimball moved that the committee find H.567 favorable as amended; Representative Wozniak seconded the motion. The clerk called the roll and the committee reported the bill "favorable 11–0–0." Earlier in the meeting the committee also recorded that the amendment (introduced on H.560) was reported "favorable 11–0–0."

The committee recessed briefly after the votes to await Agency of Education staff and counsel for the next agenda item.

The committee did not adopt any additional amendments on the floor and did not take further action on H.567 during this session.
