The New Castle County Land Use Committee voted to authorize the clerk and deputy clerk to arrange an official council photograph for display in the chamber.
"I propose that we grant full authority and responsibility to the clerk and deputy clerk of counsel to arrange for a counsel photograph to be taken in this chamber and have that process completed to be mounted along with the others," Councilmember Smiley said, noting the upcoming midterm elections and the prospect that some members may not return.
Members debated logistics, including whether multiple photos should be taken upstairs and downstairs to accommodate visibility and membership size. One councilmember said the clerk’s office had already scheduled photos for the spring; others cautioned about cramped space when the council expanded from seven to 13 members. After discussion, the motion was called and passed by voice vote.
The decision directs the clerk’s office to proceed with scheduling and producing the photograph; no additional budget or implementation date was specified at the meeting.
