Mayor Bear Adelpontes used the State of the City address to highlight rising cross-border activity, presenting city totals for 2025 and trade figures through October 2025.
Adelpontes reported that, as of Dec. 31, 2025, the bridge system handled more than 3,800,000 total crossings, including nearly 2,800,000 vehicles, about 367,000 commercial trucks and more than 652,000 pedestrians. He told the audience commercial vehicle traffic surged 36.8% year over year and pedestrian crossings increased 12.7%.
Turning to economic figures, the mayor said trade moving through Eagle Pass reached $36,710,000,000 through October 2025, with roughly $10.25 billion in exports and $26.46 billion in imports. He said those flows helped place Eagle Pass among the nation's busiest land border crossings for the month and year to date.
The mayor tied the statistics to jobs and investment locally and said they underscore the need for continued investment in border infrastructure and traffic flow improvements.
