TALLAHASSEE — Representative Daniels presented CS/HB 665, which would create a sales‑tax exemption for sales of new motor vehicles to disabled veterans who have a 100% service‑connected disability rating, effective July 1, 2026.
"House bill 665 creates a new sales tax exemption for sales of new motor vehicles to disabled veterans with a service connected disability rating of 100% effective 07/01/2026," Representative Daniels said. The bill requires that the disabled veteran provide evidence of qualification to the Department of Revenue, which would issue a consumer certificate of exemption for the purchase.
Committee members expressed support for the measure as an additional benefit for veterans. Representative Dunkley praised the bill but suggested lawmakers consider whether a 90% threshold might be more inclusive; Daniels closed without amendment.
On roll call the committee reported CS/HB 665 favorably, 16 yays and 0 nays.
