The Whitley County Board of Commissioners took several administrative actions during its Feb. 17 meeting.
Appointment: The board formally documented the appointment of Jack Green as an alternate member of the county Board of Zoning Appeals; his term is concurrent with his appointment as an alternate on the county Plan Commission. The board approved the appointment as presented.
Facility requests: The board approved a request from Darla Heinen (DCS) to use the courthouse gazebo for a child‑abuse‑awareness proclamation by the mayor on April 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.; maintenance, security and EMA had reviewed and signed off on the request. The board separately approved a request from Kim Sidor of Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Church to use the gazebo on March 29, 2026 from 10:00–10:30 a.m. for the start of Palm Sunday services; that request also had maintenance, security and EMA sign‑off.
Finance and minutes: After reviewing payroll and accounts‑payable records — during which the chair noted a 15‑foot battery cable purchase explained by Highway Director Ryan Gess as a spool used across multiple jobs — the board approved payroll and accounts payable claims. The board also approved minutes from the Feb. 2, 2026 meeting.
Public comment: The chair opened public comment, reported no members of the public were present, and adjourned the meeting.
