UN reports strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, civilian hardship

The United Nations reported attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine that have exacerbated civilian hardship in cold conditions. The spokesperson (Steph) said overnight strikes left roughly 100,000 people in Odesa city without electricity, heating and water, and that health workers were injured when a medical facility was struck in frontline areas.

UN humanitarian teams have been deployed to provide shelter, repair kits, materials and psychosocial first aid, and partners continue supporting municipal heating points with hot meals and blankets. The briefing noted that multipurpose cash assistance reached more than 651,000 people in 2025 to help vulnerable war-affected populations meet basic needs.

The spokesperson reiterated a push for diplomacy and an end to the conflict in line with General Assembly resolutions, international law, and respect for territorial integrity.
