The Fairfield Board of Police Commissioners recognized an officer at its Feb. 11, 2026 meeting for life‑saving actions during a reported suicide attempt on Nov. 28, 2025. The item on the meeting agenda listed a life‑saving award for “Officer Jay Azari,” while the presentation text and speaker remarks named Officer Jordan Irizarry as the recipient for decisive on‑scene CPR and medical intervention that restored a pulse before AMR arrival.
Commission materials said the officer “arrived on the scene following a report of a 20 year old resident found hanging by his brother, who had initiated CPR,” and that “prior to AMR arrival, the male regained the pulse and spontaneous breathing as a result of Officer Irizarry’s medical intervention.” A community member who described the on‑scene actions said the officers “assessed the situation, made sure the home was safe and kept my wife very calm,” and commissioners and staff thanked the officers and their partners for their “tremendous work.”
The commission did not record a separate vote for the recognition; remarks and a brief photo opportunity followed. Commissioners asked staff to ensure the meeting record accurately reflects the award recipient and supporting documentation. The meeting moved on to other business after attendees expressed thanks and posed for photographs.
