SWAMP unveils tissue data dashboard demo to centralize tissue and bioaccumulation datasets

SWAMP demonstrated an updated tissue data dashboard intended to centralize SWAMP bioaccumulation and tissue data and make it easier for partners to review results and plan monitoring.

Michelle Tang walked the Safety Work Group through the dashboard’s interactive map, left‑hand filter menus (analyte, species, region), a station table that lists last sample dates, and a site view that displays time‑series graphs with annual averages and precomputed length‑adjusted values where available. The dashboard supports multi‑site comparisons, species color coding, and CSV downloads of the data displayed.

Michelle said the dashboard draws data from CEDEN and includes more than 6,000 monitoring sites across SWAMP programs; the tissue‑enabled version is currently on a test site and will be placed on the public site once IT publishes the new files. She noted some known limitations (water‑body aggregation and full integrated‑report layer synchronization) and said those are planned enhancements.

Participants asked about reference‑site symbology, how stations are associated with water bodies, length‑adjusted results versus prey/sport fish distinctions, and workflows for downloading entire water‑body datasets. Michelle and other staff said they will share the test URL, follow up on species/length clarifications, and provide a feedback form to capture requested functionality improvements.

Next steps: SWAMP will share the test site link, a feedback form, and incorporate suggestions into future iterations before publishing the dashboard on the SWAMP website.
