Denver Regional Council of Governments staff presented recommended awards from two technical assistance set‑asides in the TIP and the committee approved the recommendations on Feb. 17.
Nora Kern said the Community‑Based Transportation Planning set‑aside (identified at $2.5 million in the 2024–2027 TIP) is aimed at improving transportation for historically marginalized communities and requires robust community engagement and implementable outcomes. Kern said, "So for this set aside, we received 14 projects ... we are recommending 3 projects ... which come to a total of $800,000." The three recommended projects are: a 6th Avenue bike crossing feasibility study (City of Lakewood), a first/last‑mile mobility access plan tied to a park‑and‑ride and station in Northglenn, and a small community transportation vision in Sherrillwood for Adams County.
Emily Lindsey described the Innovative Mobility set‑aside (about $4.0 million identified in the TIP over four years), which funds planning, preparedness and feasibility work related to emerging modes and mobility data. Lindsey said nine projects were submitted and the selection panel recommended four projects that total just over $1,000,000. The recommended innovative projects include work with Denver, Arvada, Adams County and RTD on items such as transit single priority, mobility hubs, connected signal work and integrated app development with RTD.
Deborah Johnson moved to approve the recommendations; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said award notifications and technical assistance will follow and the projects will be included in TIP documents and program materials.
