City staff presented Herriman's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) recommendations for 2025-26 and answered council questions about program use and local needs.
Staff said Herriman is an entitlement community for CDBG funds and has limited eligible uses under federal guidelines. The staff recommendation listed $15,000 for transportation services through the Riverton Senior Center (for Herriman residents), $15,000 for a consolidated plan, $96,530 toward a community-center remodel (space 2) and $1,000 for administrative costs. Staff noted Salt Lake County has reviewed the city's request and had no immediate concerns.
Councilmembers asked about the goal of eventually providing local senior transportation within a Herriman facility; staff said the building upgrades and energy-efficiency work under separate grants are intended to help move toward more local services over time. Staff said design work is wrapping up and that construction bids are expected to go out within one or two months for energy-efficiency upgrades, with further remodel work phased into a subsequent grant cycle.
No final county submission or award action was recorded at the meeting; staff said the city could amend the request if council desired.
