Tooele City Council reviews and reallocates board and committee assignments for 2026

At the Jan. 7 Tooele City Council work meeting, councilmembers reviewed committee and board assignments for 2026 and provisionally volunteered for or confirmed a range of liaison roles to be formally voted at the business meeting.

The council discussed leadership of the council and Redevelopment Agency (RDA). The chair indicated willingness to continue serving as council chair and the group agreed that Ed would serve as vice chair. Melody was designated by council discussion to serve as RDA chair with Dave as RDA vice chair; those appointments and additional committee placements will be finalized in the business meeting.

Members also volunteered to serve on recurring advisory boards and commissions: Ed expressed willingness to remain the planning commission liaison; Melody agreed to remain on the library board; John and Dave were assigned to the Arts Council; Dave volunteered for historic Main Street and the tree advisory board incumbent said they will remain on that body. The meeting included a brief explanation of the Shelter Cities advisory board (administered by the Utah League of Cities and Towns) and an explanation that alternate attendance by the mayor’s designee is occasional and virtual. The council was reminded of an upcoming conference and told to finalize any last changes before the scheduled business‑meeting vote.

No formal votes on appointments were taken during the work session; staff recorded assignments and the council will vote on them in the business meeting later the same evening.
