Davis Education Foundation reports holiday donations, grants and partnerships to board

Emily Price delivered the Davis Education Foundation report, summarizing the group’s November–December activities and donations. She said the foundation helped secure a $50,000 classroom makeover from classroom-design firm KI for a Northridge High special education teacher, coordinated a donation and delivery of 300 hams with Mercedes Benz of Farmington and Utah Jazz partners, and participated in the Light the World Giving Machine event.

Price listed multiple contributions and distributions: 46 innovative grants to educators totaling $155,759, 16 grants to administrators totaling $134,128, 10,000 in cash and toys from Big West Oil and the Call Foundation, $100,000 in new books from Deseret Book, KSL quarters raising $11,000, a $250,000 donation from the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation for Sub for Santa, and a $5,000 Boeing employee-drive gift among others. She also described grassroots generosity from community members and a story of a homeless man returning to buy lunches for students after learning how the giving machine worked.

Board members thanked Foundation staff and volunteers and emphasized community partnerships — including credit unions and construction donors — that supported grants, shoe programs, and holiday assistance. President Gerard and other board members highlighted the breadth of partners and the Foundation’s role in supporting students’ needs across the district.
