Herriman Police hold semiannual badge-pinning; new officers and canine 'Roxy' introduced

Herriman’s police department held its semiannual badge-pinning ceremony during the Jan. 28 City Council meeting, honoring newly sworn officers and civilian staff and introducing a new member of the canine unit.

Deputy Chief Stromberg said the badge-pinning is a long-standing law-enforcement tradition and described the badge as "the most visible symbol of the public's trust in us." The ceremony recognized records technician Grace Palmer, community services officers Michelle Jones and Jacob Wilson, and multiple newly sworn patrol officers, including Tyson Davies, Chris Taylor, Casey Hughes, Cody Graham and Troy Higbee. The department also introduced canine Roxy, an 18‑month-old Dutch Shepherd trained for explosives and firearms detection, handled by Officer Kyle Fowler.

Council members thanked officers and their families for their service and reiterated the city’s commitment to provide equipment and training so officers return home safely. The council did not take formal action on the ceremony; remarks were ceremonial and appreciative.
