Assembly Welcomes California YMCA Youth and Government Delegations to Sacramento

The California State Assembly recognized and welcomed delegations from the California YMCA Youth and Government program on Jan. 20, 2026, calling attention to youth leaders attending their annual conference in Sacramento.

Madam majority leader introduced the YMCA leadership team and board members in the gallery and named student officers including Violet Chin, Youth Governor, and Kayla Ring, Youth Chief Justice. "Many California political leaders have come from programs like the YMCA's youth and government program," the majority leader said, asking members to "please say hello to our future legislative leaders."

Assemblymember Rubio separately welcomed students from Glendora High School who are participating in the statewide program, addressing them as "my amazing young legislators to be." Multiple members acknowledged additional YMCA cohorts from Crenshaw, Wilmington, and Mid Valley during guest introductions.

The recognition highlighted the Assembly's routine practice of welcoming youth civic-engagement programs to the chamber and encouraging interaction between legislators and students. The presiding officer then moved the body on to the day's legislative business.

The visits took place during the floor session that convened in Sacramento on Jan. 20, 2026; the Assembly continued its scheduled agenda after the introductions.
