Lakeville Parks Commission approves men’s softball and women’s soccer spring schedules

The Lakeville Parks Commission on Feb. 12 approved seasonal field use for men’s softball and Freetown Lakeville women’s soccer, clearing the way for spring play and scheduling.

Chair (S1) reported the men’s softball schedule would include start times at about 8:00 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., with users expected off the fields by about 1:00–1:30 p.m., and play beginning April 12. Speaker 3 (S3) moved to accept the men’s softball application and proposed dates (April 12–Sept. 20); S1 seconded and the commission unanimously approved the application. "So we can let men's softball know we're glad to have them back with us," Chair (S1) said after the vote.

The commission then considered the women’s soccer request. Commissioners said the team preferred to remain at Ted Williams Camp Fields so players could play simultaneously; commissioners discussed alternate configurations if fields are constrained by closures. A motion to accept the women's soccer application was seconded and approved. "Welcome women's soccer. We're glad to have them back as well," Chair (S1) said.

Commissioners agreed to hold a leagues paperwork/help session on Saturday, March 7, tentatively 9–10 a.m., possibly at the police station to ensure accessibility for submissions and questions. The commission noted that most registration is now online but planned the in-person session to assist groups that need help completing forms.
