The Town of Lakeville Technology Advisory Committee voted to request IT design documents for the new fire station so the committee can review proposed infrastructure and provide input.
Moderator said the committee’s role is to ensure the town’s IT team knows what will be installed and can design infrastructure to meet operational needs. “As a committee, we should request any related design documents from new [fire-station] projects that include an IT component,” the Moderator said during the Feb. 10 meeting.
Members discussed drafting a formal memo or letter to request the documents and suggested allowing staff to provide the materials to the committee without forcing the item onto the fire station building committee agenda. Committee members agreed the objective is to prevent problems similar to issues previously reported during a police-station turnover and to make sure infrastructure expectations are clear to designers and contractors.
A motion to craft the memo and request the documents was made, seconded, and approved by roll call. The transcript records committee members voting in favor; the mover and seconder are not identified by name in the record. Moderator said he would have Bob prepare a draft letter for the committee to review and provide input.
Next steps: staff will produce the draft request letter and circulating design documents when available so the Technology Advisory Committee can review them and, if needed, participate in future fire-station planning meetings.
