Sheridan County discusses Redgrave Road conditions and trials an emergency‑mapping tool

Sheridan County commissioners heard updates on conditions at Redgrave Road and a proposed trial of Perimeter, an emergency‑planning mapping tool.

Levi Dominguez reported cabin owners have mixed views about Redgrave Road’s condition and said county staff and the new superintendent will assess whether to keep the route open through the first of the year, with a likely shift to restricted tracked‑vehicle access if weather worsens. Dominguez said reported incidents have been limited and the plan is to monitor for changes.

Dominguez also described plans for the sheriff's office to enter a one‑year free trial with Perimeter, an interactive map platform that allows the county to create polygons covering municipalities and jurisdictions and to publish status designations (for example, ready, set, go). He said the platform can be shared publicly so residents can check their status from a smartphone and that data produced during the free trial can be migrated to other software if the county decides not to continue with Perimeter.

Dominguez said fire districts and some municipalities appear receptive to funding support if the county continues the program after the trial. Commissioners asked about the potential annual subscription cost and how the tool compares to Amber‑Alert style notifications; staff said Perimeter is a planning tool rather than a simple alert and that details on subscription pricing remain under review.

The board did not take a formal vote on procurement; the item was presented as an informational update and staff will continue negotiations and outreach to partners.
