Murphysboro CUSD 186 board approves series of personnel hires and transfers

Murphysboro CUSD 186’s Board of Education approved a series of personnel actions and adjourned after a brief meeting. The board first approved closed-session minutes dated March 19, 2024, then accepted staff recommendations covering certified and noncertified assignments, athletics appointments and summer-school personnel.

An unidentified meeting participant (Speaker 2) presented a voluntary certified-teacher transfer involving Sylvia Curran and classroom assignments at General John A. Logan School for first- and second-grade placements. The board moved and seconded the recommendation and recorded affirmative votes; the motion carried.

Speaker 2 next presented noncertified hires, naming Linda Barra for social-media duties and Taylor Morgan as student advocate at General John A. Logan. The board approved those hires after a motion and second; roll-call confirmations were recorded as affirmative.

Athletics recommendations included the appointment of Jessica Stanton as Murphysboro High School (MHS) junior-varsity volleyball coach and Nathan Hinkle as head baseball coach. The board approved those appointments by recorded assent.

The board also approved summer school staffing: Joel Carrington, Anika Cook, Bryn Decker, Emery Castleman and Patrick Dover as summer-school workers, with Ellie Kirk designated as student supervisor. That slate was approved by the board in a recorded vote.
