Land Use Commission appoints chair and vice chair to zoning code working group

The Evanston Land Use Commission voted on Feb. 11 to recommend that the commission chair and vice chair serve on the City’s zoning code working group, a body formed to coordinate with staff and a consultant on the zoning code update. Staff said the working group is intended for project oversight — monitoring timelines and collaboration with the public process — rather than drafting regulatory text.

Staff confirmed two City Council members (Council Members Rogers and Nusma) had already been appointed by the Rules Committee; the commission’s recommendation will provide two commission members as the liaison to the consultant and staff. The motion passed by voice vote. Planning staff introduced new planner Taylor Kendall, who will assist with special uses and major variations.
