ARB approves conversion of attached garage to living space and a new carport at 221 N. Ardmore with conditions

The ARB approved Feb. 12 a certificate of appropriateness for a project to convert an attached garage to living space and construct a new carport at 221 North Ardmore (applicant Bob Tranquley; owners noted in record). The board reviewed revised designs addressing prior comments and focused discussion on column detailing, truss representation and lighting placement.

Members complimented improvements and recommended simplifying the rear columns and refining column collars and base trim so the carport reads as a coherent design element. Staff read findings of fact and the board moved to approve the certificate of appropriateness with the condition that the applicant work with the design consultant to simplify the back columns. The motion passed unanimously among voting members present.
