Park Campus students present community-service projects and anti-bias work to District 46 board

Students from Park Campus presented to the Grayslake CCSD 46 Board on Feb. 11 about their "Leader of the Pack" activities.

Jen Voss, Park campus leader and pack sponsor, introduced seventh- and eighth-grade students who described recent and upcoming activities: a paw-print reward cafe (students earn 'paw prints' for demonstrating the district's expectations and redeem them for prizes), virtual author visits for younger grades, classroom projects for the No Place for Hate campaign that paired grade levels with children's books to emphasize diversity and inclusion, and a volunteer trip scheduled for Feb. 21 to assist the Avon Food Pantry with restocking, bag assembly and distribution.

Voss thanked the board and the District 46 community for time on the agenda and for support; students expressed appreciation and shared photos of their projects. The board thanked the students for the update and invited them to stay for part of the meeting.

What's next: Students said they look forward to updating the board again in April and the district confirmed staff will continue to include student voices in board meetings.
