The Winnsboro Main Street board set Bloom dates for April 11–24 and discussed how the Winnsboro Center of the Arts (WCA) will coordinate window art and related activities.
The Chair said Bloom is sponsored by the Winnsboro Center of the Arts and began four years ago with a vision from artist Chris Brown to bring businesses together for a spring celebration. For this year the board plans assigned windows that WCA artists will decorate, and officials urged the whole town to "bloom" by adding decorations and activities.
WCA will partner with the historical museum to host heritage art walks every Saturday during Bloom; the museum project will include QR codes placed around town so visitors can use their phones to access historical information. The Creative Learning Center will also be open as part of the celebration.
Board members were asked to begin planning in March and consider how Main Street can assist with decor and merchant engagement. The Chair said committees should start assigning tasks and windows to participating artists and businesses.
Under consent the board also noted a custom façade grant is awaiting a paid invoice; the Director said the invoice has been submitted to finance and will be paid in this cycle. The grant requires a $1,500 match.
Other community items included a reminder that WCA's annual meeting is tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Market Street on the Bowery, and a farmer's market winter market is planned Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
