Menifee public works: Bradley Road bridge moves into deck work, crews to place over 930,000 pounds of rebar
Menifee City Public Works Director Nick Fidler said crews have moved from foundation work to the bridge deck at the Bradley Road crossing over Salt Creek Wash and will begin placing rebar within the next week.

“We're getting ready to place the rebar,” Fidler said, adding that “the bridge deck will have over 930,000 pounds of rebar placed just to create the bridge deck structure.”

Fidler told the host during an on-site update that the project has had only "about 10 days" of rain-related delays to date, that foundations are installed in the river channel, and that the work is progressing on schedule toward the deck phase. He said crews encountered and managed multiple utility relocations while driving piles and excavating for foundations.

“We worked with Southern California Gas Company, and they relocated a gas line,” Fidler said. He also said the Eastern Municipal Water District is a project partner and will place water facilities within the bridge deck; some of EMWD’s water lines were relocated to accommodate storm drain infrastructure.

Fidler said the pedestrian trail that formerly dropped down to channel level will be raised by about 8 feet to match the new roadway profile, with crossings located similar to previous alignments. The project will also add bike lanes, neighborhood electric vehicle lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the bridge to increase connectivity from Sun City to nearby shopping centers.

Fidler emphasized the safety rationale for the work: in a moderate storm, Bradley Road previously closed and forced emergency vehicles to detour via Interstate 215 or down to Murrieta, delaying response times for a nearby fire station. Raising the road and providing a permanent crossing is intended to reduce those closures and improve travel for residents and safety services.

Nearby residents, Fidler said, have been cooperative and often come to watch the daily progress. The host closed the field update by thanking Fidler and noting another update is expected as the project approaches September.
