Suamico board approves $287,632 refurbishment of two fire tenders, to use equipment reserve

The Suamico Village Board voted unanimously on Oct. 21 to accept a Pierce Manufacturing quote not to exceed $287,632 to refurbish two fire tenders, following a closed-session review of apparatus proposals.

President opened the motion in public after the board returned from closed session, saying, "I would offer a motion that we go with the quote for refurbishment from Pierce Manufacturing in a dollar amount not to exceed $287,632 for the refurbishment of 2 tenders." Trustee Grama seconded the motion. Administrator offered a friendly amendment to use funds from the equipment replacement reserve fund, which the board accepted.

The board had moved into closed session earlier under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(e) to review competitive proposals and bargaining positions related to fire apparatus. After the closed session, trustees voted by roll call to approve the refurbishment and funding source; the motion passed unanimously.

The action authorizes staff to proceed with the quoted refurbishment and to draw the approved funds from the equipment replacement reserve. The board did not discuss further procurement details or delivery timelines in the open session.

The village will implement the refurbishment per the accepted quote; no additional public hearings were announced at the meeting.
