Peachtree City Council approved a temporary text amendment to allow short-term rentals to be listed without a permit or fee for a limited window tied to the World Cup period, as advertised from June 1 through July 31.
Staff said the planning commission reviewed the item and emphasized two protective requirements: a registration and a reliable local point-of-contact for public-safety and nuisance response. Council members discussed narrowing the window to match exact game dates but ultimately approved the advertised June 1–July 31 period to accommodate early arrivals, training schedules and potential delays.
Staff also reported that the soccer housing bureau will maintain a back-end listing updated weekly and that, as of the staff follow-up noted in the meeting, 12 Peachtree City properties had been listed and none were rented yet. Homeowners remain subject to HOA restrictions that may prohibit rentals.
The council asked staff to educate homeowners listing properties during the suspension and to ensure a reliable contact and registration process. The motion to approve the temporary amendment passed unanimously.
