The Pleasant Grove Planning Commission on Feb. 12 voted to recommend that the City Council approve a code text amendment to City Code section 10‑15‑38, which governs fencing standards and screening. The motion, brought by Commissioner Redding and seconded by Commissioner Nielsen, passed by voice vote.
Planner Jacob Hawkins said staff made edits to the draft language discussed at a prior meeting, chiefly clarifying the definition of "suitable screening." Hawkins presented the revised exhibits and findings and said staff were forwarding the recommended changes for council consideration.
The commission opened a public hearing; no members of the public came forward. Commissioners discussed whether to add the phrase "at maturity" to a minimum screening height (an example suggestion was "minimum height of 7 feet at maturity"). Some commissioners briefly favored specifying maturity wording; others said the additional language was unnecessary and did not amend the staff recommendation.
With no public testimony, and after the brief exchange about maturity, the commission voted to forward its recommendation to city council adopting staff exhibits, findings and conditions (the record notes there were no additional conditions placed by the commission).
The code amendment now moves to the Pleasant Grove City Council for final action.
