Board approves sales-tax exemption extension for Ku Coffee at 47 Luzerne Road

The board voted to extend the sales-tax rebate/exemption for Ku Coffee (registered as 87 North Enterprises LLC) at 47 Luzerne Road through Aug. 31, 2026.

Speaker 2 presented the project report for 47 Luzerne Road and proposed extending both the construction timeline relief and the sales-tax exemption through Aug. 31, 2026. “The dollar amounts of the construction haven't changed. There's no increase in benefit. It's just a bunch of funds through the June,” Speaker 2 said when describing the extension request. The board recorded a second and approved the extension by voice vote; Speaker 2 called for the vote and members answered “Aye,” with no nays or abstentions noted.

Board members also confirmed that insurance and required forms are in place for the project and that construction is expected to continue; Speaker 1 said the project team expected completion during the first half of the year. The board directed staff to sign the extension and send the paperwork to the applicant.

Next steps: staff will finalize and sign the extension paperwork and deliver it to the Ku Coffee project representatives.
