Parks board elects officers, approves consent agenda unanimously

At its February meeting the Spokane Parks Board approved the consent agenda and unanimously elected a new slate of officers nominated by an ad hoc committee.

The nominating committee presented Bob Anderson for president, Barb Ritchie for vice president and Garrett Jones for secretary to serve until the first regular meeting of 2027. A committee member moved to approve the slate; the motion was seconded and the board voted unanimously to confirm the officers.

Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda after a motion and second; the chair called for voices and several members answered "aye." No roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript beyond recorded affirmations.

Board leaders noted the officer transitions will occur during a year of levy planning and implementation. The president thanked the nominating committee for compiling member input and said staff will circulate committee assignments and plans for a full board retreat in spring 2026. The board also noted there are two applicant openings for the board that will be forwarded to Mayor Brown for appointment and subsequent council approval.
