The Lee County board approved a resolution appointing Brian Schafer to the Franklin Grove Fire Protection District following the resignation of Mark Applequest.
The chair read the resolution and the board moved on the appointment: "Kinda Dean moves, and mister Copine seconds it." The motion was carried after voice vote with members saying "Aye."
Earlier, the board discussed moving appointment of Reed Acree (weed specialist) to the county-board agenda for consideration; clerk staff indicated the item may appear on the county-board agenda depending on the county board's scheduling.
Later in the meeting the chair moved to enter executive session to examine past executive-session minutes under the citation stated in the meeting as "LCS 1 20/2.06." Nancy moved and Wilson seconded the motion; the board then conducted a roll-call vote with each member recorded as "Yes" to enter executive session.
The chair also reviewed items planned for the Feb. 18 county-board meeting, including zoning and planning minutes, petitions from the planning commission, joint funding agreements, and matching-fund appropriation resolutions for county projects. The board voted to approve forwarding the compiled county-board agenda.
No substantive policy decisions beyond the appointments and the executive-session motion were adopted during this meeting.
