Monterey County Works schedules February job fairs, offers recruiter prep tips

Monterey County Works is running a series of no‑cost job fairs and specialized recruitment events in February to connect local job seekers with hiring employers across sectors.

Laura Kershner, business services specialist with the Monterey County Workforce Development Board, said the transportation recruitment that day had three employers signed up and another en route, while multiple‑employer job fairs typically aim for about 8–10 participating businesses. “Folks can learn more about our events on our home page on our website at montereycountyworks.com. Kershner outlined the schedule: multiple‑employer job fairs are typically held Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m., and specialized recruitments run roughly 1:30 to 4 p.m. She announced a Greenfield multiple‑employer job fair set for April 16 at Greenfield City Council Chambers from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with space for approximately 20 employers and encouraged early registration.

She advised job seekers to prepare as they would for an interview—business attire or business casual, printed resumes, and pre‑event research. “Come ready… bring your resume, be prepared to meet the employers in person, to shake hands, to ask questions about the positions,” Kershner said, noting recruiters make early assessments at in‑person events.
