Chester County commissioners on Monday re-adopted the county’s 2026 budget and formally approved the real-estate tax rate that accompanies it.
The board unanimously re-adopted the previously approved 2026 budget of $778,632,816 and then voted to adopt a resolution formalizing the county’s 2026 real-estate millage, which Commissioner Mary Moskowitz said “remains the same, which is 5.16 mills in total.”
The re-adoption and the tax-rate resolution were presented by county staff as administrative steps to complete the formal record after last week’s budget vote. David (county staff) told the board that the resolution is required to formalize the tax rates set in the budget. Commissioner Eric Rowe moved the resolution and Commissioner Mary Moskowitz seconded; both votes were recorded as in favor and no commissioners opposed.
The board handled the routine consent agenda and approval of the Dec. 17 meeting minutes in the same session. Before those votes, the commissioners amended the meeting announcements to record that they had met in executive session on Dec. 17 to discuss personnel and legal matters.
No departmental budget details, program changes, or amendments were discussed on the record during the re-adoption; the action was presented as a formalization of decisions already approved by the board. The meeting concluded following a short public-comment period.
The board did not schedule any additional votes or public hearings on the budget during this meeting.
