The Redondo Beach Public Amenities Commission received and filed the library director's report at its Feb. 11 meeting, where the director and staff highlighted recent grants, programs and outreach.
Director Dana Vinkie summarized library activity: the youth services librarian secured a bicentennial-themed book grant that will supply free books for the community; the library will participate in the One Coast One Book program (March through May 2026) and will host virtual programming including an author talk featuring George Takei and additional copies of the graphic novel They Called Us Enemy for circulation. Vinkie said the North Branch express hours are expanding and that youth-program enrollment and interest are growing. The youth services librarian will also participate in the Redondo Union High School teen jobs fair on March 4, 2026.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about program locations and parking for outreach events. The commission voted unanimously to receive and file the library director's report.
Next steps: library staff will continue program promotion through the library calendar and coordinate with schools and community partners for teen outreach and One Coast One Book supplemental events.
