Independent audit gives Mount Diablo Unified a clean opinion; trustees accept report

The Mount Diablo Unified School District received an unmodified (clean) audit opinion for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, the district’s independent auditors reported on Feb. 11.

Jeff Nigro of Nigro & Nigro summarized the audit process and told the board the financial statements were prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; he said there were some findings — both new and repeat — and that staff and auditors are already working on corrective actions.

The board moved and approved acceptance of the independent audit (motion by Trustee Lawrence, seconded) by a 5–0 vote with the student trustee’s consent. District staff said follow‑up will be provided next year to report on correction of any findings and compliance items.

The audit summary: The auditor compared district unaudited actuals adopted in September to the audited results, reviewed numerous program compliance areas and noted that additional state audit requirements are increasing. The presentation emphasized the clean opinion while flagging areas for management attention and future reporting.
