The Colorado Senate on Feb. 11 approved several bills on third reading and final passage, including measures affecting agricultural lending, coal transition communities and criminal statutes.
Majority Leader Rodriguez moved the passage of the consent calendar items (Senate Bill 64 and Senate Bill 52). After members asked to be recorded as no votes, the clerk recorded final tallies: Senate Bill 64 passed with 30 ayes, 2 noes, 0 absent and 3 excused; Senate Bill 52 passed with 29 ayes, 3 noes, 0 absent and 3 excused. Senators Zamora Wilson and Carson asked to be recorded as no votes on both bills; Senator Bazely asked to be recorded as a no vote on SB52 and was humorously fined for using the wrong form of address.
Later, the clerk read the title of Senate Bill 13, concerning cohabitation as a means to commit the offense of bigamy. Senator Hendrickson moved third reading and final passage; the bill passed with a recorded vote of 27 ayes, 5 noes, 0 absent and 3 excused.
The bills were added to the official record with cosponsors listed in the proceeding. No further amendments or policy changes to these bills were recorded during the floor action reported here.
