The Liberty Lake Library Board voted to approve a revised meeting-room policy as amended and will forward the clean and redlined versions to the city council for consideration.
The policy changes, presented by Jandy during the board's meeting, clarify that the library operates two reservable spaces'a large meeting room with a capacity of 39 people and a small study room with a capacity of 10. Jandy said she reorganized the document to make that distinction explicit and to consolidate rules that apply to both spaces. "I revamped the first paragraph," Jandy said, "so the Liberty Lake Library marked two meeting rooms to the community as a public service. One large meeting room with a maximum capacity of 39 people and one small study room with a maximum capacity of 10."
The updated policy renames the booking form to "room reservation software," preserves walk-in availability for the study room when unreserved, and calls out telehealth and online interviews as an approved use. The presenter also moved several cross-cutting provisions (arrive within 15 minutes or forfeit reservation; library assumes no liability for theft; cancel unused reservations) into a single section to make the rules clearer for users.
Board members suggested non-substantive formatting and placement changes. One member recommended adding a short titled section for items that apply to both rooms (for example, arrival window and cancellation rules); board discussion focused on clarity and consistent headings rather than changing policy scope.
Speaker 2 moved to approve the revised policy as amended for presentation to the city council. The board voted by voice; the chair called for ayes and the motion passed. "All in favor, say aye," the chair said; multiple members responded "Aye." The presenter said she would distribute both a clean and a redlined version and attach the meeting audio to the council packet for context.
The council review and any subsequent action by the city council will determine when the revised policy becomes effective.
