The Village of Weston board on Oct. 21 amended a development agreement for the Lockwood multi‑tenant commercial project at 2302 Mulford Ave. to adopt an updated landscaping plan, while asking the developer to provide revised building elevations that meet the village code.
Planning staff told trustees the planning commission had reviewed the developer’s submission and recommended approval of the updated landscaping but did not recommend the revised elevations because two building faces fell below the 40% brick/stone coverage required by code. The developer explained many of the changes were aesthetic tweaks and said there was no cost savings in the revised elevations.
Trustee discussion centered on matching materials to previously approved plans and ensuring TIF funding reflects the final approved scope. A motion to amend the development agreement to reduce TIF funding for the project to a maximum of $25,000 failed for lack of a second. The subsequent motion to amend the development agreement to include the updated landscaping plan passed by a 6–1 vote; the board directed the developer to resubmit compliant elevations to planning for final action.
Why it matters: The site will receive public TIF support tied to the development agreement. The board’s decision preserves the landscaping changes while ensuring architectural elements comply with the standards the village used when calculating TIF support.
What’s next: Developer will submit updated elevations to the planning commission; staff will finalize the amended development agreement consistent with the board action.
