Paramotor pilots ask Kuna school board to allow continued use of adjacent field, offer safety measures

Andrew Abrams, representing the Fisher Valley Paramotor Pilots Association, addressed the board during public comment to ask the district not to bar pilots from a field adjacent to district property. Abrams said pilots have used the field for about six years and described the area as flat and free of obstructions, making it suitable for their activity.

“It's our warehouse. It's where we've got a lot of stuff in there… it's our storage for most of the big items of the district,” Abrams said of the space in question and acknowledged district concerns about safety and liability. He offered several mitigations the pilots are willing to adopt, including signed waivers for pilots, following district rules on access and avoiding operations during school sports or events.

Abrams said there have been no major accidents among their group and proposed limits on the number of pilots at the site, having pilots sign waivers and complying with any district conditions. He also offered to provide a handout and contact information for follow-up.

Board response: the chair thanked Abrams and accepted the handout; no action was taken at the meeting. The exchange was recorded under public comment and will be part of the district’s public input record.
