The Town of Miami Lakes Planning and Zoning Board on Feb. 11 approved two variances for a waterfront infinity-edge pool at 6030 Lake Champlain Terrace, requested by homeowner Antonio Valeri. The board voted unanimously to approve the request with staff-recommended conditions.
Town staff (Justin Teleria, transportation coordinator) read the variance into the record (hearing BARH2026-2026Dash0032; folio 3220240050360). The application sought permission for a 12-by-22-foot pool and infinity edge to encroach 6 feet, 6 inches waterward of the top of slope; staff recommended approval with conditions to keep decking limited to 225 square feet and to install additional landscaping along the side of the pool facing the water.
Valeri told the board two mature oak trees on the rear of his property constrained where the pool could be placed, and that preserving the trees was a priority. He said he would comply with staff recommendations and, if required by code, would move or remove an auxiliary generator that currently sits near the pool area. Board members asked whether the building department would require generator relocation for life-safety reasons; Valeri said he would follow building-department requirements.
Chair Senra moved to approve the item with the zoning department’s recommendations; Vice Chair Rodriguez seconded. The clerk conducted a roll-call vote and all members voted in favor.
Next steps: The approval was conditioned on staff recommendations and building-department review; permits and any required relocation of the generator will be handled through the building-permit process.
