The Southborough Youth Commission met Feb. 10 and heard from Kayla Monczak, who has applied to fill a vacancy on the commission. Chair introduced Monczak and said her appointment is pending action by the Select Board.
Monczak said she has "lived in Southborough for 14 years now" and described her work as a social worker for AANE, where she works as "a life map coach with autistic adult[s]" and provides life-skills counseling. She outlined prior experience in adult day health centers, public and senior housing, and involvement in schools and hospitals. Monczak said she was motivated to apply after receiving a vacancy notice and meeting with staff, and she told commissioners she hopes to help improve connections across town programs.
Commissioners welcomed Monczak and asked informal questions about her familiarity with Youth & Family Services. One commissioner noted the commission needs more outreach to young adults and residents on the autism spectrum and said Monczak's experience with AANE would be a valuable perspective.
The commission then reviewed minutes from its Jan. 13, 2026 meeting. An unidentified member moved to approve the minutes and the chair seconded. The chair called a roll-call vote; Lauren Ritchie, Susan Beyer, Karen (last name unclear in the transcript), Sarah Mikas and Nancy Sutton each responded "Aye," and the motion carried.
The commission concluded its business and adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
