During the Feb. 10 meeting, the city administrator (Speaker 4) provided a multi-item operations update for North Bend.
The administrator said Lincoln Square was damaged after a vehicle crash and that the city will work to repair ruts and other damage. He reported mechanical issues at the municipal pool — including impeller and coordinator problems and water‑heater concerns — and said staff are working with contractors to determine the correct equipment and use available capital-improvement funds to pay for repairs.
The visitor-center parking lot is scheduled to go under construction by the end of the month, the administrator said, and businesses downtown will be notified to reconfigure parking while the work proceeds. A street-sweeper crew is working extended shifts to catch up after equipment downtime.
On housing, the administrator summarized a catalyst-design grant workshop held with Salazar Architects. Staff participated in two full-day sessions in which Salazar’s team developed three design concepts for a proposed downtown workforce-housing project that would combine retail, event space, parking and about 100 residential units in the conceptual renderings; staff said the firm will produce a report and request feedback before advancing to formal design and procurement.
The administrator also noted media coverage reductions from local layoffs and said the city posted the street-sweeper report and other materials to social media and the city website.
The report did not include dollar estimates for repair costs or a firm schedule for the housing project; staff said renderings and further materials will be provided as the process continues.
