The Community and Economic Development Committee unanimously recommended Feb. 9 that the City Council consider emergency legislation to annex a 0.667-acre parcel known as the McAdams property at 3110 West Fenner Road.
Mister Tittering, a staff member who presented the item, said the request was submitted as a Type 2 expedited annexation on behalf of the property owner and would "square off" a corner of a larger parcel annexed by the city about two months earlier. "This is requested as emergency legislation," he said, citing strict statutory timelines the city must meet for expedited annexations.
The annexation package, Tittering said, includes three standard pieces of legislation: a statement of municipal services to document that the property would receive the same level of city services as other properties; an ordinance authorizing buffering if there are incompatible zoning adjacencies; and the final consent ordinance accepting the annexation.
Committee members asked no substantive questions during discussion. A motion to "move forward with emergency" legislation was made and seconded in committee and the chair declared the recommendation unanimous to forward to council for formal action.
Next steps: the committee’s recommendation will be transmitted to the full City Council for consideration of the three pieces of annexation legislation and any required readings or public-notice steps under city rules and state law.
