The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 10 presented a resolution recognizing Grace Church of Reno for its Hope First campaign and its financial, property and in-kind contributions to local recovery services. Commissioners read details of the resolution and invited program participants to speak during public comment.
Multiple Crossroads Women & Children program participants told the board the church’s donations — including renovated cottages and donated vans — helped women complete treatment and reunify with children. "It was the perfect way to start the new year," said Marcy Mansfield, a Crossroads participant who described housing support and peer networks at the cottages. Ivy Elliott, another participant, told commissioners she is graduating from Crossroads and has been hired by the program: "I'm about to graduate the Crossroads program…thanks to Crossroads and Grace Church."
The written resolution presented to the board said Grace Church’s Hope First campaign has invested more than $3,000,000 in financial, property and in-kind contributions, supported acquisition and rehabilitation of six recovery homes that provide 93 beds, and helped expand Crossroads recovery programs. The text of the resolution cited measurable outcomes including increased capacity and family reunifications among program participants.
County officials and presenters framed the recognition as an example of public–private partnership expanding behavioral-health and housing supports. Commissioners thanked the speakers for sharing personal outcomes and invited the church’s leadership to accept the recognition and take photos.
The board did not take separate formal action to appropriate new funds for Crossroads at the Feb. 10 meeting; the recognition and attendees’ testimonies were recorded as part of public comment and a ceremonial resolution dated Feb. 10.
