Senate honors libraries and state high-school champions; journals invocation

During the Feb. 10 session the Senate recognized Maryland Library Day with a resolution read by the clerk and directed for presentation on Feb. 11, 2026. The majority leader and clerks praised librarians and libraries as community guardians and resources.

The chamber also adopted resolutions honoring the Stephen Decatur High School men's soccer team as 2025 Class 3A state champions and the Clarksburg High School girls varsity flag football team for winning the 2025 4A/3A state championship. Senators highlighted key players and coaching leadership, described the teams’ community engagement (visiting elementary schools), and directed both resolutions to be presented on Feb. 11, 2026.

Reverend Scott Shelton of Heritage Baptist Church offered an invocation urging courage, strength, wisdom and compassion "today." The Senate recorded the invocation for the journal at a senator’s request.
