Facilities update: key access, heating repairs and maintenance projects reported

Unidentified Speaker 3 reported on facilities and safety work, including access, repairs and staffing changes.

The speaker said a recent walk-through with a drug-sniffing dog revealed the visiting officer did not have a key that worked in all doors at Burns High School, prompting consideration of installing an emergency lockbox key for authorities. "We found that the officer that came to Burns High School didn't have a key that worked in all those doors," Unidentified Speaker 3 said, adding that the fire department box is separate and may not serve this need.

The speaker outlined planned maintenance: quotes are coming for repairs to gables and walls in older wings (Carpenter/H Wing and administrative building), and quotes for Burns Elementary blown replacement. Repairs and parts for Burns High School heating have been difficult to secure because parts are sourced from other states; a visit to install parts was expected Thursday. The speaker also announced a new maintenance supervisor in Pine Bluffs and small projects at the Pine Bluffs High School to help with storage and equipment organization.
