Fritz Wang told the Board of Commissioners he and other neighbors have repeatedly asked officials to address noise and permitting at the Fuller Mill Road gun range and asked the county to "consider restricting the hours at the gun range. 9AM to 5PM, Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays and federal holidays for gun ranges located on RA zoned property."
Wang alleged the range (he identified the club as TASK/TASC and Mr. Mendenhall as an operator) lost nonprofit status in the 2010s and that the county’s planning and zoning staff previously overturned a county tax department cease-and-desist related to that change. He said the range constructed five permanent shelters without permits and that membership growth has greatly increased noise and decibel levels.
Amy Wang, a nearby resident, said shooting has resumed and "interferes with the right to peace" for more than 60 families near the range. She urged commissioners to consider ordinance changes or relocation and said existing Unified Development Ordinance language has made many ranges nonconforming uses.
Board members did not announce an immediate regulatory action at the meeting; the exchange represents citizen requests for enforcement and possible changes to the UDO. The planning and zoning process later discussed during the meeting related to sign regulations, not the gun-range matter specifically. No formal motion or vote on the gun-range complaints was recorded at this meeting.
