Commission hears regional hazard mitigation plan; motion made to adopt

Steve Keith, Riley County emergency management, briefed the board on the Region 1 hazard mitigation plan, describing it as a regional, five‑year plan the state helps approve and which “is used for and 1 of the biggest reasons to have it in place is to making us eligible for grant funds when disaster comes along.” He listed eligible uses such as flood buyouts, wind and wildfire mitigation, infrastructure resilience, and property acquisition.
