The Oklahoma Senate on Feb. 10, 2026, presented a formal citation recognizing the Oktaha High School girls softball team for winning the 2025 OSSAA Class 2A state championship.
Senator Avery Fricks introduced the team on the floor and praised its season, noting a marathon 16-inning, 1–0 win over Pocola and the pitching performance of senior Madison Capps, who pitched throughout the 16-inning contest and also started the state championship game. The Senate clerk read a citation that "extends to the Oktaha High School girls softball team's sincere congratulations" and directed that the citation be presented to the team pursuant to Fricks' motion.
Coach told the chamber she has coached many of the players since elementary school and described the group as "just a remarkable group." Senator Fricks asked members to join in a round of applause for the state champions. The citation text, as read on the floor, highlighted the team's resilience, sportsmanship and the pride it brought to their community.
The presentation was performed on the Senate floor by unanimous consent to bring the team onto the floor; the citation was read and directed to be presented with no recorded roll-call vote reflected in the transcript. The Senate proceeded with other business after the recognition.
The team recognition occurred during floor introductions and ceremonial business; the citation will be presented to school representatives off the floor as directed by the Senate.
