City recommends $285,950 engineering contract to design Cobb International Boulevard reclamation project

Public works staff (Speaker 13) presented a proposal from Patterson & Dewar for civil engineering services to support the Cobb International Boulevard Pavement Reclamation Project. The consultant's proposal is $285,950; staff said the corridor's full construction estimate is about $10,000,000 and that the city received a $2,000,000 congressional earmark that could fund roughly one-fifth of the corridor work. Staff recommended approval of the engineering contract so plans would be ready if SPLOST or additional funding becomes available.

Council members asked how the earmark and SPLOST item interact. Staff said the earmark covers a portion of the corridor and that including the corridor on the SPLOST list would enable completion of the full project when combined with local SPLOST proceeds.
