Senate Education Committee approves multiple board confirmations and places items on consent calendar

The Senate Education Committee heard introductions and brief remarks for multiple reappointments and nominations and moved them forward with favorable recommendations.

Adams State University nominees (introduced by the president) included Jonathan Barba (alumnus and retired Colorado State Patrol member), Duane Bussey (current trustee and former bank CEO) and Donna Wehey (retired communications director and Adams State alumna). Senator Kipp moved the appointments to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation; the committee recorded unanimous support and placed the nominees on the consent calendar.

Chancellor Marielena DeSanctis introduced the reappointments of Ross Duber, Karen McNeil Miller and Yolanda Ortega to the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education; the committee voted unanimously to recommend them to the full Senate. Mark Heller introduced the reappointments of Morris Price Jr. and Heather Schell to the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority; the committee again voted unanimously to advance those nominations.

Committee members thanked nominees for their willingness to serve and placed the confirmed items on the consent calendar for expedited processing by the full Senate.
