Story County staff presented a proposal to adopt Wellmark Connect as the county’s employee wellness platform and confirmed the FY27 budget does not include funding for a full compensation study.
Sarah, who leads the county wellness committee, described Wellmark Connect as a consolidated platform for employees’ health and wellness needs and said the vendor was included in the FY27 draft at roughly $6,800. "Wellmark offers a platform called Wellmark Connect, and I think Alyssa's got that figure in the budget for 6,800," she told the board. The platform would allow employees to use their own health providers for annual wellness screening and would also offer on-site screenings for an additional fee; staff noted on-site screening charges would still apply if requested.
On compensation, staff acknowledged the county has requested a comp study but had not budgeted for a full FY27 study. Alyssa Wignell said a complete market study would cost substantially more than a reduced approach and that a partial assessment could cut costs but would not replace a full evaluation. Staff proposed a scaled approach and noted they would follow up on a recommended scope and funding source.
Next steps: staff will confirm vendor details and bring a recommended scope and cost for a compensation study back to the board at a subsequent meeting.
